From a family trip to Bhutan.
The climb is about 3 kms from mountain foot to the Monastery, and takes about two-and-a-half hours for people with non-athletic but healthy build. It is advisable to start the hike early in the morning (the sun would have risen by 4 A.M. in summer) and descend before noon. Be sure to get your permits from the office at Thimpu (capital) the day before visiting Paro, or else you won't be allowed inside the monastery complex.

Aside: This hike strangely reminded me of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq000rAZBMc

Yes. But where is the fun in that?!

I would be disappointed if, after having trekked a mountain in the wilderness, to find evidence of human presence there.

  • @pravasi1000 That's why it's adventurous and popular to hike up to the tiger's nest.
