The Delta Queen makes it's final stop at Louisville, Ky on October 23-24, 2008. Docking on the evening of Thursday, Oct 23 followed by the mayor's comments and presentation of the antlers won by the DQ in the annual race with the Belle of Louisville. Scenes aboard the DQ follow before departure on Friday night, Oct. 24. The DQ parades up the wharf area, turns and heads down the Ohio on it's one way trip to New orleans.
The effort to save it is still alive and you can help by contacting your Congressman and U S Senator to save it.

I brought my family from Guam to visit Louisville in '92 and we went on the Belle of Louisville cruise. I was pleasantly surprised to find my Waggener school mate Jimmy Shelbourne playing the calliope...with a bandaged wrist due to carpal tunnel syndrome.

The grandest Old Lady of them all, without a doubt.

Oberstar is now out of office...the Queen needs to leave her position as a floating hotel in a state where she doens't belong and return to her home port of Cincinatti Ohio to cruse again!

Senator Bunning from Kentucky is tryin to have the Delta Queen condemned. He is just a hateful bitter old man, possibly suffering from dementia..Thankfully it is very unlikely that he will win another term in office! Farewell Delta Queen you are a beautiful lady and you have given countless people much pleasure through the years.......

As always, great job, Jim! Wonderful stuff including a close up of the door of the first stateroom Deb and I stayed in on the Legendary One, 119. And I was doing OK watching, emotion wise, until I heard the whistle...Why is the exemption extension not a no-brainer? Not a dime being asked from Congress, and think of the tax revenue generated from allowing all these jobs to continue...What is wrong with our Congress? Wouldn't the exemption extension be the true meaning of economic stimulation?
