Looking for Bukowski in San Pedro, CA

Charles Bokowski lived in small town ofSan Pedro near Los Angeles when he was young boy. Today it´s hard to find any traces of Buko who used to visit in bars and the Vinegar Hill Bookshop here even when he was the old man. That bookshop is now closed long ago and San Pedro is very sleepy town after roaring 80´s when the wealth of neighbourhood Long Beach even reached it...

I used to work at a gas station in San Pedro during high school in the 80's and Bukowski used to come in often. The gas station was on 1st and Bandini which was down the street from where he lived. He was a very nice old man. I remember he gave us an autographed copy of the book Barfly which they were making a movie of it at the time. RIP Charles.

Looking for signs of Bukowski in San Pedro? Why? That town was a part of the twilight of his life. Come to East Hollywood and you'll see real signs of Bukowski. Unless you are to scared to come to East Hollywood. San Pedro is a lame boring part of town...perfect place to go retire and die.

You should have at least visited his grave while you were in town or a local bar "Rebels" where he would go for a drink on occasion. San Pedro is more than Ports O' Call and 6th St.
