& I agree in the Kitbash in fact I always thought this could be a Cool Repaint of the Crystal Monster in the G1 episode where Kup had to face his Fear of it & finally defeat it

I thought the Yeerks ate their host's brain and somehow kept the body alive and controlled it. Something that never made sense to me, especially considering that different species from different planets would likely have vastly different brain chemistries.
