These were the best and most unique aspects of ECW's tv show. I am shocked that no wrestling company has ever tried this.
-
@nextbigthing They were only called "Pulp Fiction" promoes because the music was easily identifiable from that movie.

LOL @ Taz "I'm not the guy to look up to"
Of course not, you're so fucking short.
Had to be a rib.

The only ECW that I recognize. Paul Heyman's creation.
NextBigThing, can you explain to me the reasoning behind the Pulp Fiction promos. I know the movie was hot at the time but why did they decide to use the music for the promos? I should probably know this but I honestly have no clue.

I think part of it was that the movie was such a hit. Paul Heyman, unlike almost all other promoters, was very hip and up to date with pop cultural. For whatever reason he also loved to use music that he didn't have the rights for. I guess it added to the underground effect of ECW. Heyman loved having an unconventional approach to TV. Most wrestling shows always ended with a big main event. But many times he would end with the Pulp Fiction promos and they were very effective.

If you watch a lot of these promos you can see why he stuck with them. They were very entertaining but also did a great job in getting guys over as well furthering certain storylines. He only had an hour of weekly TV but after commercial and ECW advertisements he was down to like 40 minutes. So putting together an 8 minute promo montage was a perfect way to fit everything in. WWF used to do something similar in the 80s before PPVs; especially before Royal Rumble.
