Dubose blew 2 td leads twice. That showed he was not the man for the job.

@smi99003 shut up

Alabama was prevented from going to the Sugar Bowl because it was the NCG that year...coincidentally, that game featured teams that would have otherwise gone to the Orange Bowl

@WolverineHistorian It is in my humble opinion that Alabama had the more talented team, but Michigan was coached by far superior individuals such as Lloyd Carr compared to Mike Dubose. Michigan also had WAY superior depth in this game, and you could tell in the final quarter when Bama's players looked like a bunch of worked horses. Its a shame... hope we beat you guys in Dallas in 2012 ;)

This was a great game. I was there. As a Bama fan, it was a heartbreaking loss though.

Neutral fan here, but I just have to say that I love ABC's intro to this game, pumps me up every time. I wish they'd bring ABC's presentation back. They added the old ABC music for the BCS bowls last season, but otherwise the presentation was still rather dry. :/

Michigan got lucky with this game. Alabama was the better team.

Not even close. With the score tied at 28-28 in the second half, we fumbled the ball away on the 1 yard line. We also have a FG blocked in the final seconds.
Alabama was lucky the game even went into overtime at all. Michigan dominated the second half.

Thank you so so much for posting this WH, I'm really happy that I get to see how the entire game played out. I was 9 years old when this game was played and obviously I was too young to stay up for such a late game. I was so excited when I heard that Michigan had won but I never got to watch the game.

Yeah, this game started at 8:00 at night. With it going into overtime and listening to the post game interviews on the radio, I didn't go to bed until 2:00 in the morning.
