Holla! Have you heard about - fast abs magic (do a search on google)? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cooworker got hot 6 pack abs and lost a truck load of of fat with it.

If an athlete were to lie on their back on a platform with their ankles anchored, their torso from the base of their back and upwards not being supported while holding a weight and held this static position for a set time, would this build abdominal strength similarly as the movement you've shown? I considered the dynamics of the exercise you demonstrated and thought that this variation would target the abs similarly as it would involve resisting gravity from pulling you backwards.

is it better than the janda sit up?

Hey Dr. P I have a quick question. I am pretty sure I am keeping myself straight but I feel a bit of spinal tension in my lower back when doing this. Is this normal? Also, I feel like I am using my quads for most of the movement. I noticed you said that I should not expect to feel a burn in the abs, but am I meant to feel the quads?
p.s. My friend Kevin got me into your videos. You have changed they way I work out for life =)

@buggy65x Thanks for the compliment and glad you like the vids. You may feel some tension in quads, depends on how tight they are. Try changing the toe postion of the move. Aim toes into the ground. Might feel it more.

Hey Dr.P, Great work!
Quick question though, not sure if I'm doing this one right.
SHould you feel this in your abs/lowers abs/transverse at all? All I got from it was a really strong burn through my quads, And I'm pretty sure I kept my body in a straight line from the knees up.

You will not so much feel a burn in this one. It is designed to 'activate' your abs to grow. Burning in the abs means nothing. People do a zillion situps and crunches 'feeling the burn', but are actually working their hip flexors. It's not about the feeling, it's about the muscle contraction and timing. You can try to change foot position to make it easier. Just point your toes into the ground instead. Might help ya until he quads get more flexible.

Not better...just different. Works muscle at an other angel. Do both...variety and temp are key factors in abs. Wait until you see my other band twisters coming soon. I do 7-8 sets of abs all in a Giant Set no rest and I am done. Get it...work them...blast them...and get out to let them heal.

Yes you will feel the quads too. Just remember when it comes to ab training...feeling a big burn in the abs does not mean you are working them right. This exercise will not burn the abs, but you will work the hell out of them. Most people who feel abs burning while doing crunches and sit-ups are working heir hip flexors more than abs. It's about function and form...not burning. Nice feel in the quad burn right? I will show you another variation next video with rubber tubing..
