Bend Oregon, which was recently voted "America's Best Trail Running Town" by the editors of Outside Magazine, has been named the host destination for the 2008 and 2009 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.
The XTERRA Trail Run National Championship's main event is an XDURO (21k/13.1 mile) off-road half-marathon with a $5,000 purse, but the day-long running celebration also feature races of 5k and 10k distances and a kids' k. Don't plan to race? Come for the fun and hang out at the event village in the Old Mill District and enjoy the live entertainment and music, a Kids Fun Zone, a Canine Challenge obstacle course and much more. While the race field will include competitors who have qualified for Nationals at other events, participation in all races -- including the XTERRA XDURO 21K Trail Run National Championship-- is open to the general public. The cost to race is $35 and spectators are FREE. The fun starts at 9am and goes until 3pm.
