  • Canada and Australia should do the same

  • Yes I love it. For years I never understood why Jamaica has such reverence for the Queen if we're independent of British Rule.

  • I don't understand why we are still under her rule in the UK even.

  • HAHAHAH what a thick black woman.

Jamaica was a Crown Posession before the blacks got there as our slaves.

This thicko black woman thinks that the blacks are indigenous!

  • Hell no, Jamaica should stay under the Queen. Portia isn't thinking about Jamaica, she thinking about herself. She was the 1st female PM, and now she trying to be the 1st Jamaican Queen. Alot of people are agreeing only because they're PNP. Last time I checked Jamaica was a place full with pride, but yet she freely gave battymon rights, knowing the culture Jamaica and the people. I don't like the way Jamaica is heading.. smh

  • people seem to hate tradition! I mean seriously the monarchy is something not many nations have anymore to just throw it away makes Jamaica just another boring island republic.

  • Jamaica must wear a Crown, a new King, Queen or President must inherit a clean State. The British Crown and Government owe Jamaica for Paul Bogle and George William Gordon, when Prince Harry visit Jamaica he must bring the Triple Crown of Emperor Theodore and 550 looted Ethiopian manuscripts, the Crown must assume the national debt as a ransom for the soul of Queen Elizabeth 2nd. As Head of State. Jamaica must wear a Crown and cannot be another broken Republic.

  • Oddysocks, it's all part of balancing government. Apart from that, the Monarchy is part of our traditions! Has been for hundreds of years. We should stop traditions because Mrs. Simpson feels so? Well, imagine what Jamaica would have been and will be with that kind of self rightous leadership. Mrs. Simpson raises her pay by over 50% first week in office, then preaches how she is best and Jamaica needs a "Jamaican Queen." People are being led astray, into the woods!

  • @smokeyhat Without the Monarchy Jamaica would have been a Haiti a long time ago! The Monarchy was inbed into the constitution to prevent wild politicians from doing whatever they felt and corrupt courts. That is why the Privy Council is the highest appellate court and far removed from judges with political connections in Jamaica. Before you start loving it so much examine what happend to the other Commonwealth countries which did what Mrs. Simpson is advocating.

  • My response is to KJB86. Its nonsense to keep an unelected woman as Head-of-State. To state that she is just a figurehead and does not mean anything, underlines the need to get rid of her, but then KJB86 contradicts his first comment by saying that she keeps the country in order - what nonsense. It is an insult to the PM, her government and Jamaica's people to state that they are incapable of keeping everything in order. How pathetic KJB86.

  • This should have been done a long time a go, the very definition of the word independent made this situation an oxymoron. Yes yes yes.
