  • Bit of a long shot but do you still have this TV? Because I own an identical set that also only selects channels 1 and 9, and I'm wondering if you got rid of this set and I now have it O.o

  • @crappyhofnerguitar

    Yours is a different one.

    Cheers.

  • Pretty impressive! I always wonder how this kind of things works ^^

I have almost the same thing on a Soviet-made Rigonda Bolshoi radiogram, except it just keep the radio station tuned fine with motorized adjustement.

Never though this could have been existed on a TV!

  • @MIKON8ERISBACK

The tuner is a drum with plastic clip in bits called biscuits. The biscuits have tunable coils in them for each chanel so to get chanel 1 you need a biscuit with the coils for chanel 1 and so on.

  • @ekcoscott Tuner whats in the what now?

  • That is really cool.

  • @BG101UK We had a set that worked that way; it was a Zenith with a "Space Command" 2 button acoustic remote control. My parents had to bring it to the shop so they could convert it from Washington DC to Boston stations. I think it had all the biscuits though, you could get the unused stations by turning the channel window with your thumbs. I guess with so few 405 line stations in Britain, it might not have been worthwhile including a full set of them.

  • @BG101UK yes it could it would need more tuner biscuits in the tuner drum

  • Could this set be programmed to use more than 2 channels? It looks set to change between 1 and 9 only (and presumably this would be set for whichever channels you had in your area).

  • You seem to have a problem with Rediffusion!

    Just kidding, neat video, however.
