A small demonstration that DECpc AXP/150 still can run just fine. The machine here has 128 MB RAM, 2 GB HDD, QVision 1024/E graphics and is running OpenVMS 7.3-1.

  • Did you changed the CDE's wallpaper? In Solaris I can change chosing just a few options, all of them comes in bult-in with CDE... Would you explain me about that? =)

  • edit your $HOME/.dtsession and set the background with your favorite viewer

  • LOL Nice video... but I'm quite amused that the first thing you do on login is VNC via a Java applet to an SGI running IRIX! hehee

  • It's not VNC... it's my site :D

  • Right thanks :) Are you using Mozilla? How is the performance?

  • if you call that performance:)

let's face it, I'm glad the thing is actually working. Mozilla eats memory way too fast and hits the limits of image resources pretty soon (and it's being killed). After that, 150 MHz EV4 isn't exactly a demon of speed anyway.

  • it's great to see hobbyists still giving the old AXP boxes some love. I'll have to get some video's up from our workshop - we have guys working on these all day long!

  • Its a 3rd time I'm replying, can't post links in my own comment. LOL

Anyway, google openvmshobbyist. You can get VMS PAKs (licenses) for free. One you need is a membership in local DECUG (which is also free).

There you can order VMS 8.3 media kits.
