Easter weekend saw a lot of happy faces at Coventry, UK. Air Atlantique Classic Flight opened its doors to the public, giving them the opportunity to fly in a Dakota, Dragon Rapide or Percival Prentice. They also got hands-on contact with a bunch of other lovely old aeroplanes. This is my five-minute memory of a great day. Music by my son Adam

  • I've only just found this little gem (no pun intended)via your blog on getting the cub home (which was a great read). Fascinating, I just love the Dakota, such a grand old dame of the air, and you captured her beautifully. Great editing and excellent music that fit perfectly. Thank you Jem and Adam.

  • Thank you very much! I've just started a spare-time Website on keepemmoving-dot-com (YouTube doesn't seem to like Web addresses). It's intended to support all those irreplaceable nutcases who try to preserve historic mechanicals. Dunno if I'll ever have time to finish it, but the intention is there!

  • Me again! Hope you don't mind me suggesting this but today I saw on a website for the Royal Philharmonia Orchestra that they like to have workshops with young composers, to try out their work with them. I thought of your son and his music.

If you register on the website you can sign up for various newsletters and there is a paragraph about this. Your son's music is good - wouldn't it be fantastic to hear it played by a big orchestra?

  • Thank you - that's very kind of you to think of this. I'll certainly point Adam at the site. Who knows...?

  • Thank you! You'll have made a couple of Shaws very happy! The music was written by my son Adam, and the old guy with the beard was my father - a star in my opinion at least!

  • Great little movie, and stunning music. Who wrote it? And who was the old guy at the end with the beard? Looks very familiar. Film star?

  • Will drop in to your website, thanks for telling me.

And if you're able to do any more little clips of some of these lovely old planes, I'll be watching them.

Have just been to an airshow here that showcased some very old warplanes, had them all in a flyby together, magic. It resparked my childhood interest in a big way. Good luck with the website. Oh and good luck to Adam with his music too.

  • excellent viedeo well done

  • FABULOUS little movie with an equally fabulous score. Fearless flyers...absolutely thrilling to watch. Great camera and editing by a true pro..keep it coming!

  • Very atmospheric little film, some lovely unusual camera angles. I loved the sun shining off curved polished metal, looking down from the cockpit to see the rotors turning on the other plane, young and old enjoying the planes, the flames in the (jet?) engine - you really did manage to tell so much of a story in a few minutes. And wonderful music - my husband overheard it and asked what is was! Thanks for sharing this!
