At 5pm uk time on Tuesday 18th January we will be broadcasting live from The Utopia Archive at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Athens. To read more and to watch previous broadcasts visit our active blog at www.tinyurl.com/shytstem
Following on from our participation in the 2008 Utopia & Praxis we will be presenting a refresher of the 1st 2 issues of Shytstem through the medium of the karaoke. This is part of our current process of making Shytstem a more useable tool.
At 5pm uk time on Wednesday 7th January we will be linking up our own review with the Utopia project in a second broadcast. We will be speaking with Vasillis and Maria, and who know... more Karaoke???
Michael Wedgwood & Eddie Farrell in Athens 00:24 16/01/2011

We met through Bruce Mclean, didnt we?
Made our first work on a train, didnt we?
And tho our studies said that
we ought to paint

We asked what would be a
painting without paint

We are reviewing the situation
Not new ideas but new spaces to put them
Richard Foreman, Blinky Palermo
King Mob, Guy Debord
and Barnett Newman
And with James Smith
we thought that we would
Produce a day of Damaged Goods
The goods were good but never one
A showcase of fragmentation
Before an aft they showed their face
Expected us to clean the place

We thought wed better think it out again

We proposed a lot of things, didnt we
Rehearsed a lot of things, didnt we
And on a small Croation Island
In the blistering sun
The proposals and rehearsals became one
We begun

We called it Shytstem, the publication
A cardboard box
a web site
and a place to meet
Paul Carr, Gary Woodley, Sarah Mclaren
Duncan Mclean, Corinna Till
and Eddie Peake
Neil Stewart. and Paul Tickell
Klaas Hoek helped too
The launch went well
A hired church. A 3 hour slot
A tenner for a box of what?
The beer was free we sold a few

And then straight on to number 2

Oh gawd

We had no time to think it out again

Shytstem 2 was a good one, wasnt it?
London, Oslo and Taiwan wasnt it?
And when the contributions
were almost complete
We then thought things
Required another tweak?

We thought of eating
We thought of drinking
A 3 course meal with wine for 3 quid
All in
With Peter Reiling in the kitchen
And a few goods friends
to help with the serving
With Bruce Mclean and Donald Smith
Ichia wu and Yeong Sik Kim
Graham Hayward, Universettee
Natalia Charogianni
Liz Lawes and Louise Colbourne
It was a night to live and learn

So nows the time to think it out again

A fresh start for Shytstem 3, wasnt there
Always something new to see, isnt there
And to those who say
Accept the status quo
Wed like to say to you
NO NO NO NO NO

Well keep reviewing the situation
Ideas are ten a penny thats a fact
Its not just doing, the private viewing
Its also what you give
and what you can give back
And if its what will be will be
We say try and you might see
And when you say that you cant see
Open your eyes and you might see
And when you say you need a pee
Well show you to the lavatory
For those who are all ME ME ME
We want to say its WE WE WE

We hope you think about it all again

Hey!
