If your computer has been infected with Desktop Defender 2010, you can use this method to remove it. Doing it this way worked for me and my laptop is back up and running as good as ever.

1. Do a System Restore
2. Download and run CCLEANER
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
3. Download and run SUPERAntiSpyware
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
4. Download and run AVG AntiVius
http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

This should work. You can find more solutions to this problem by doing a YAHOO! or Google search for "Desktop Defender 2010".

Shortly after I posted this video, I located the purported homepage of the creators of Desktop Defender 2010, located at
http://www.windesktopdefender.com/
and I did a WHOIS search to discover who the registrant of the site is and the results came back as "Unknown", which is something that people would do if they didn't want you to know where they really live or work.

UPDATE: the homepage of the company selling DD2010 is offline. I'm not sure what happened, but the site is gone.

If you know some one whose computer has been infected with Desktop Defenders 2010, provide them with this link and recommend that they file a Federal complaint against these people.

  • I got DD 2010 from Google. Malwarebytes is good for stopping the virus from getting in, but once it is in, you need to do the 4 steps. So far, I have had luck with CCleaner and I am currently running SUPERAntiSpyware. Thank you very much for posting this, as not even the HP Technicians could help me get rid of this thing. I have to give the makers their props, they made a hell of a virus there.

  • they can brag about it when the FBI shows-up at their house with the Party Van.

But, I have to agree with you: this is one hell of a hard virus to get rid of.

  • i found Malwarebytes is a great program, but desktop defender or what ever that virus is will stop it. for some reason my computer always crashes if i try to boot in safe mode

  • the Four Steps didn't work for you?

  • i was trying to watch a bootleg of 24 before it came out on Hulu and thats how i got it

  • another reason to stay away from bootlegs.

I wouldn't mention that part, if you decide to file an FBI report against them. I got mine by dowloading a legit program. DD2010 went through McAfee like it wasn't even there.

  • Hey OrionSyndicate910 I have to say that SuperAntiSpyware is a Rogue antivirus also I shit you not my buddy got hit with it and does the same thing it has annoying freakin warning popups n shit and nomater what he does it will keep poping up just like all other Rogue programs AVG doesint work anymore because hackers who make these Roges got into thier system and messed everything up.

Instead Just Use Kaspersky It works and it Kicks ass It blocked shitloads of Rogues and keylogger hackers.

  • LOL you went to the wrong pr0n site buddy

  • That's a bad set of malwarez.

    It actually defends itself!!

  • i have windows 7...

it doesent have system tools there...plz help

  • Restart PC, tap F8 and enter into safe mode with nwetworking.(safe mode only uses the bare minimum of windows files needed to function, meaning the rogue won't run) Then use you Antivirus or download MBAM and scan/remove. If rogue continues running in safe mode, acess task maneger and end its process, then remove. Make sure to delete its registry and win startup keys, then restart.

  • @turb0strid3r. Though some block it.

  • so if i have the same probloem with my computer cause to be honest i have this thing going on wright now the desktop defender 2010 & if i download any of these links while it clear it ???? plz respond

  • if malwarebytes fails, go for hitman pro

  • When you said it locked up, there was probably a Trojan-Vundo.
