Its a World gone forever-where Jimmy Saville brought happiness to so many.
Today we have twats like Simon Fuller or some reality show clown who holds a boot camp for wannabee stars and runs it like Auchwitz

I saw Tommy before Xmas 2010 in Scrooge in Wimbledon. 74 you must be joking. I have written to the Cabinet Office with the question 'Why hasn't he been knighted. What a star for so many years. I hope in the future wrongs will be put right.

Awww this brings back great memories. I saw the show twice on my annual visits to London and was sad when it stopped. Love the show, love Tommy Steel and I especially love this scene. Thanks zoebasil!

Ohhhh, thank you for uploading this, zoebasil. I saw the show in September 1983, on my first visit to London. As I recall, there are no photos of this segment in the souvenir book, deliberately, so you had to reallllly pay attention to this scene. I seem to remember that, at one point, Tommy takes off his sweater, and uses it to mop up the water. Amazing, what live theatre can do. How lovely that this scene was committed to video!

This is what TV should be like not the trash we are force fed today.
I liked how Tommy didn't just sing and dance over the girl but complimented her and fulfilled her dream by making her the star of the show. What a sport.
Awwwwwww, so sweet too.

@notchatty That's because the song was called "Little WHITE bull", not red!

Excellent show from yester year, better than most of the crap thats on these days. Bringing stars and every day folk together Awsome.
Glad you enjoyed it. Indeed Tom did take off his sweater and mop. I saw Singin' in the Rain many times and never tired of it. Thankfully he is still going strong and has just finished a tour of Scrooge. I am hopeful that there will be something else this year or next.. We shall just have to be patient.

how did they do that! Please tell me somone! (All the water)!

A huge machine reclycled the water into a large "tray" which filled the stage. It was tinted with milk so that it could be seen easier than just water. And I guess it was a tad warmer than real rain, or they might have cought cold!

anyone know what year this was?

It was 1983 when Singin' in the Rain opened in 1983 and ran until 1985. So it's somewhere between these dates. Sorry can't be more helpful.

Tommy Steele is currently touring the country with Dr. Dolittle. It is a huge success and continues until at least the end of July. The film "Tommy the Toreador" contains footage of him singing "Little White Bull." It is available if you search the internet.
