PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION....

In this video we watch as the passenger that will become the dinner train in Charlotte, MI are being turned on the wye at Lenawee Jct. on the Adrian & Blissfield RR. They had to be turned so that they would face the correct way when they arrived in Charlotte.

The cars were than taken out to Riga, MI and the interchange with the Indiana & Ohio. The I&O than took the cars to Flat Rock, MI and the CN. The CN would have than taken the cars up through Durand and onto the old GTW mainline and west to Charlotte.

1752 was built for the Central of Vermont and ran as their #4554. The dynamic brakes have been removed, but the blister is still there. Since this video #1752 has been repainted in A&B's green and yellow lightning strip paint scheme.

  • What was that diamond you showed in the video from or for?? Great video!!!

  • @tdluvs That was the old Monroe Branch that started at Lenawee Jct. and went east to Monroe, Michigan.

  • All your ADBF videos are great! WOW! I really like the way that they were filmed, not just cause they are cab view, but that you can see the track work and switching jobs, ect... I model the 1980s in central/northern michigan but after seeing these great videos I might pull out my old Modelrailroader mags on the Lenewee/Hillsdale and consider making a small layout directly from the info/images in your videos. Thank you for the information you posted, esp on this video!

  • @RustBeltRailroad Glad you like them! The most interesting part of the A&B is in Adrian, with the interchange with NS and the branchline that was the old DT&I mainline. This line is used to interchange grain trains with NS.

Lenawee Jct. is where the line to Jackson went north. Today the line north of the wye is owned by the Southern Michigan RR Society as far as Clinton, MI.

  • The info about taking cars up to Durand then down to Charlotte helps me with my model railroad based on durand/owosso abstractly. Do you think that they took the Lenewee or those hillsdale boxcars on that route? Forgive me, I an not to familiar with these railroads and may sound ignorant asking that question.

    Thanks
