Two teams, one winner. Using bow & arrows, with metal swords for close combat, the Grey Company fight it out.

  • Check out my other uTube video which will answer all your questions.

Combat Archery - What is it?

  • I'm not sure, but try putting your hand to making one. I'm sure there will be something online that could help you. One of our guys made his.

  • We use blunts on the end of arrows, do a search for "rubber blunts" and you should find some.

  • Grey Company is not part of the SCA, but we're the oldest metal weapons reenactment group in Perth Australia. We are 23 years fighting now. Should say, we have combined bouts with several SCA groups, check out my CA interview video.

  • looks like a lot of fun! combat archery is normaly fun! :)

  • Nicht schlecht aber man kann es auch übertreiben.

  • they actually also make paintball markers that can be installed on to just about any modern bow. about 180$ but worth it in large matches when you want to go full cammo and be silent. they shoot about 280 fps max.

  • Cool :) I'd try this if its around in my area.

  • 30lb maxmimum bow strength, no compound bows as they are too efficient. Light armour is worn by most, no need for heavy armour.

5/16th wooden arrows max 28" long with rubber blunt head. Thin light shaft allows for flex on impact, helps reduce transmitted force.

  • @loki1066 - try handholding while walking on uneven terrain while at maximum zoom, filming through the lcd held at waist level, and see how good your camerawork is :-)

  • Safe - almost totally if done correctly by adults. Bows - 30lbmax, no compounds. Arrows - rubber blunt heads on flexible wooden shafts. Armour - optional but everyone wears it to minimise bruising.

Seriously, DO NOT try this with your mates wearing safety goggles and cardboard box armour. You WILL get hurt that way. Do it properly with a likeminded group and it's the best fun around for archery fans :-)

If you're in Oz, check out NVG, Grey Company (us) or SCA. Overseas, try SCA to start.

  • Who filmed it?

    The world's shakiest man?

  • that seems like one of the most fun competitions you could possibly have, i used to do similar moving and firing exercises myself but id never have anyone to compete with as my arrows were tipped
