Testimony of a woman detained by ICE Homeland Security

Marlene Jaggarnauth is a mother and grandmother of seven American children, who made mistakes like everyone else. After falling into post partum depression she robbed groceries in 1997.

In 2003 she was detained by Homeland Security's ICE agents and incarcerated in an Immigration Detention Center for 12 months. Then she got deported back to Trinidad & Tobago in 2004. Her elderly mother -who is legally blind- had to take care of her children and grandchildren.

With the support of a Florida-based immigration advocacy organization, Marlene Jaggarnauth fought back for her rights and returned to the U.S. in 2007 after being four years separated from her children.

Now Marlene Jaggarnauth works in a local University and with a non-profit defending the rights of immigrants who are unfairly detained by ICE and who suffer of emotional torture, abuse, discrimination and human rights violations at the Homeland Security's ICE detention centers.

i know that is true because when i was in jail there were women in north las vegas jail waiting to be deported and had been there between four months to over a year.I was told that could not have happened because thats illegal to do that to someone waiting to be deported, but when the governing system wants to do something illegal it seems to be ok for them huh.

@TEEWEE01 Exactly, there have been cases of migrants dying in prison, because of lack of proper medical attention after physical abuses. The U.S. federal and state prisons violate human rights in a daily basis, and the media never pays attention because if a person doesn't have money in a capitalist society, that person has almost no rights whatsoever.

does anybody know how many crimes u have to commit to be deported by I.C.E. ? found out a old friend was arrested again for his 3rd or 4th drug crime ,this time after he finished his jail time in county jail, I.C.E. picked him up.Can u be deported if u have a valid green card? or do u have to be a illegal to be deported?

Americans have much more of this to look forward to. DHS & ICE are the new gestapo in this country. They care nothing of human rights. The new totalitarian state is about to become a reality for not only immigrants, but US citizens as well. We are all about to get a taste of the new police state just as soon as national ID card legislation is passed. Just wait!
