Hello MMA fans this is a quick hitter from Ultimate Fighting. UFC's next fight card, "Breakthrough" will take place Saturday September 6th from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The Main Event will be a fight in the light heavyweight division, as Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell will take on the undefeated Rashad "Sugar" Evans.
Chuck Liddell has a professional record of 21-5. The veteran striker has scored 14 knockout victories. He is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion winning the belt at UFC 52 by defeating Randy Couture by knockout. The Iceman defended the belt successfully on 4 straight occasions before losing his title to Quinton Rampage Jackson at UFC 71 back in May of 2007 by TKO. The Iceman is coming off a victory over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79 by unanimous decision.
Rashad Evans enters UFC 88 with 16 wins and no defeats with 1 draw. Evans last saw action in November of 2007 earning a close split decision victory over Michael Bispring after fighting to a draw with Tito Ortiz in July of 2007 at UFC 73. Evans wrestled in college at Michigan St for 3 years and began his professional career in Mixed Martial Arts in 2003. Evans entry into the UFC came as a result of his upset victory in The Ultimate Fighter 2 reality series on Spike TV in 2005. Evans fought as a heavyweight in the 225lb weight classification and came away with 4 upset victories in winning the tournament and earning a three-year contract with the UFC.
The winner of this matchup is rumored to be in line for a title fight with UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin.
