Released worldwide from October 2007, the latest Toyota Land Cruiser was unveiled in Tokyo on September 18. The full size, completely redesigned Land Cruiser, features a completely new platform and suspension system. The redesigned exterior combines the traditional land cruiser identity with merged front and rear fenders, integrated rear bumper with combination taillights and a full frame structure with greater torsional and flexural rigidity. The redesigned interior is 175mm longer, and features a horizontal instrument panel with a redesigned center cluster and all leather heated front and second row seats. The 4.7 liter V8 engine has increased output with a higher compression ratio and higher maximum engine speed, this is matched with a 5 Super ECT transmission and leads to improved fuel efficiency of 6.6 kilometers per liter and a reduction in CO2 emissions. The Crawl Control system, combined with Toyota's Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System allows for greater stability in off road driving conditions. KDSS allows for greater suspension articulation, by using hydraulics to independently control the front and rear stabilizers depending on the conditions. This system also decreases body roll for improved on road handling. Toyota aims to ship 100,000 units worldwide by 2008.
