And now the end is near. So it faces the final curtain. I hope you've all enjoyed watching this overlooked special, whether you've relived your childhood or seen it for the first time.

Now for the final comments. All I can reveal about the book's end is that Collie does not end up in the animal shelter. Why so? You'll have to read to find out!

Jack Stoneley was himself the newspaper columnist who visited the shelter and wrote the article about the black-and-white puppy in the Tuesday cage. In the end, we all have Stoneley to thank for helping the real Scruffy find a new home.

Have trouble finding it on the IMDb? Here it is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081468/

One last thing: my copy does not have the Ruby-Spears/Filmways logo at the end. You can find that version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cvGSc2Lm4s

Thanks for watching!

  • I love it how they're saying how pounds are bad and stuff, then at the end Scruffy's owners don't get her or Butch desexed and they produce more puppies, some of whom will eventually end up in the pound and probably won't be as lucky as their parents.

  • @myroosterwilleatyou I believe this was made before such action was encouraged, either that or the producers wanted a "cute" ending.

  • This movie wasn't so bad. Plague Dogs is a bit more poignant.

  • @MartenFerret This one's a walk in the park compared to Plague Dogs.

  • I don't think a wagging tail is enough to push the gears out of place in a car. AND WHY WAS IT WAGGING? That was a scary moment for the dogs. Was he like:

"Imma nudge this gear outta place so when they see us I can bolt and they'll get Scruffy!! >:]"

  • @WorldIsMineseries Yeah, the producers' knowledge of dog behaviour was seriously lacking. In the book the gear did shift, but not from the almighty strength of a wagging tail!

  • lol all of them are like "oh no we are in the pound!" and then collies just like "hellloooo :D"

  • @americrevolutwar1777 Same here as well!

  • @CairnTerrier69 :) I wasn't around when it first came out but this was my favorite movie throughout my whole childhood!!

  • Thank You soooooo much for posting this movie on here!! I thought I'd never see it again after my vhs of it broke!! I used to cry all the time from this movie and I absolutely adore it!! Again Thank You!!

  • there is no sound ._.

  • Did anyone else get the feeling that they paired dogs with people like they did in 101 Dalmatians? Remember Pongo looking out the window? The little girl with the yellow dress had a Golden Retriever puppy? The artist chick with the long hair had like an Irish setter. The fancy chick with the fluff had a poodle? They all looked the same in some aspects. Even the woman on the bike had a pug in the basket who looked a little like her.

  • r.i.p RS ruby spears logo

  • I notice 3 look like butch and 3 look like scurry til toward the ending. One of pup supposedly look like butch suddenly turn into black pup? Haha wow

  • @kbirdusa I fear more for Solo the Cairn Terrier...his new owner looks like the Uni-bomber!

  • You know, this film may have its shortcomings and 70's/early 80's "cheesiness" compared to the stuff out today, but I grew up on this stuff and back then you didn't have potty humor and choppy computer animation. But what you had was good storytelling with well developed and likable characters..."Scruffy" is a perfect example. For those of you old enough to remember when this first aired....it was BIG and well received! Thanks for sharing this remarkable movie!
