I am also grown up and I have to say your comments are really NOT grown up. She may not be your cup of tea, but bubble gum musicals? Really! Perhaps you should broaden your theatre experience. Ms. Menzel is a talented performer and should be given the respect that a Tony winner deserves. Have you seen Rent, Aida, or Wicked?

I think Idina gives the song warmth, because she tends to through her personality into much of what she sings...she is amazing!

Idina Menzel's voice sounds like Alvin's from ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS. Could she make it less annoyingly screechy, please? Also, she should lower the key if can't reach the high notes (see problematic ending of the song) and NOT CHEAT!!!

I love Idina but, up against Bernadette and Sarah Brightman, it was a poor choice.

i love the sigh she does near the end because it just shows her appreciation and it just completely punches more emotion into the song

I think she could do better on the high notes, but then again I don't know If I would be as good as she Is there in front of all those people. Sure Sarah is amazing but she doesn't put as much soul into it as Idina does. Well done

OMFG! RENT was possibly the most influential musical in the past 50 years...it defined a generation, and still defines generations now. I am sorry but RENT is one of he most well-respected musicals in the business...one of 3 musicals EVER to win a Pulitser Prize for dama I believe...

Defo isn't her best performance ever...but I could hear every word fine.

And I think she understood the song perfectly - it's such with such warmth.

But vocally it takes a while to warm up.

I was with you Hollyjo - until you threw Rent in the mix.  You can't really put that out there as anything more than what it was - the commercialization of Broadway. Idina is talented, but still more of a pop singer.
