The Mary of the Bible clearly reveals why Mary is blessed among women. God is God. He did not need Mary to birth His only begotten Son, He chose her to be the vessel to bring forth the Saviour of the world. Ever ask yourself why?

Firstly, when anyone says that Catholics worship Mary either viciously lies, or misrepresents Catholicism. Mary is not a Goddess at all but Mother of God (Θεοτόκος - Theotókos). She cannot do anything without Jesus nor is the object of worship in and of itself. It is because she was (and still is) the closest person to Jesus-before and after his death-that we hold her in the highest esteem. Didn't Jesus - when dying on the cross - care about her and ask John to take care of her (John, 19,26-27)?
