http://www.BassGuitarTheory.com Here's an easy way to get started learning theory - learn the numbers of the major scale... all you have to do is walk through the scale, and give each note a number! It's really simple, and you can now use those numbers to create very cool harmonies in your playing. We'll get into that more later.

  • Although I am a guitar student, he is absolutely right. Learn to read notes A,B,C,D,E,F,G (sharp and flat) AND 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 (tonic (name of the key) 2 frets,2 frets,1fret,2frets,2frets,2fre­ts and 1 fret back to the beginning). This will turbo charge your playing like nothing else. You can play absolute notes(A,B,C) for years and learn nothing. Once you learn the numeric scale you understand the pattern in any key. Excellent lesson!
