  • Actually this was written by one of America's greatest poets, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. His wife died when her dress caught fire. That was near the beginning of the Civil War. then a couple of years later his son who had run away to join the war, was gravely wounded but survived. It was a year later when Longfellow wrote the poem Christmas Bells.

  • This song came from a broken hearted man who lost his (boy) son during the cival war may they both rest in peace tonight.
