Citing concerns it would have on the quality of life in Marin County, in 2008 the Marin Association of REALTORS® opposed the state of Californias plan to conduct an aerial spraying campaign to eradicate the light brown apple moth. Airplanes were going to repeatedly spray Marin and eight other Northern California counties with pesticide-filled plastic flakes every 30 to 90 days, possibly for several years. In March, 2010 California announced it would no longer seek to eradicate the moth, but instead try to control and suppress it.
