Evan Parker (soprano saxophone), John Edwards (double bass) and John Russell (guitar) at Mopomoso free improvisation night at the Vortex Jazz Club in London. 16th November 2008. Filmed by Helen Petts. www.mopomoso.com
I have an old rusty pot and pan, and I played along to this by banging on them with a toilet brush... it really complimented the complexities of this music.
I love the other-worldliness of this music. The title of a Dewey Redman album comes to mind: 'The Ear Of the Behearer'. It's all about beauty but there's a need to dispel any judgements. For me this music allows me to escape the 4/4 onslaught & move into a more objective frame of reference. Evan Parker's technique & mastery of circular breathing on the soprano sax has a curiously relaxing effect. 'The Snake Decides' is played often. Great to SEE John Stevens in action. Thanks for posting this.
