From August 2-21, a group of doctoral students and research volunteers from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego embarked on an expedition aboard the Scripps research vessel New Horizon exploring the problem of plastic in the North Pacific Gyre.

@murdkipz Before you make a fool of yourself, (oops, too late), I have PERSONALLY sailed to the pacific garbage patch (you obviously think is a lie), I have seen it, touched it and yes, I even observed the dead birds FILLED with plastic!!! NOBODY needs to travel 3000 nautical miles out to the middle of nowhere to " shove it all inside" dead seagull corpses", (they are NOT seagulls, they are young Albatross) Ever ask yourself how they died??? (guess not)... Sorry to say, you are wrong ...

You found a lot of plastic there, but you need to shove it all inside some dead seagull corpses to make your point better

Ocean Voyage Institute is making a HUGE effort to clean up this mess. They are currently raising funds to go the North Pacific Gyre this summer with a team of volunteers to collect the plastic and trash that has accumulated there, as well as researching environmentally friendly ways to dispose of it. Please help save our oceans and the wildlife that live there by googling “dream sail raffle” and visiting our website, as well as posting it on your pages!

It would be more interesting to hear what the researchers had to say than listen to this inane Muzak. This is an important issue.
