Just how good were these buses? IBT (Ipswich Borough Transport) as it was before the deregulation actually bought a couple of new ones in 1981 but most of the fleet was bought in the seventies. They were one of the most reliable buses ever in IBT's fleet and outlasted many other types. I believe that there is still one Atlantean in operation for Ipswich Buses and that one is an open top red bus reg no. MRT 9P. If you spot it anywhere, just remember that the town used to be full of them.

I remember seeing these buses in the late 1990s. It's interesting to see what Tower Ramparts bus station used to look like, also the old route no. 3.
