On Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 the national wilderness advocacy community sponsored a Congressional reception in the Gold Room of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. The purpose was to celebrate protecting wilderness through careful, thoughtful application of the Wilderness Act of 1964, and to honor our wilderness champions in the Congress.
As you can see, the event was very well attended, and even included V.I.P. guests such as Montana Senator Jon Tester, and Colorado Congressman John Salazar.
Friends of Allegheny Wilderness was a cosponsor of this event, along with:
Arizona Wilderness Coalition, Alaska Wilderness League, Campaign for America's Wilderness, Friends of Nevada Wilderness, Friends of Scotchman Peak, Nevada Wilderness Project, Sky Island Alliance, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, The Wilderness Society
