I had gastric bypass rue n y. I started at 288 on June 25, 2007. By April 2008 I was 140. I was having alot of pain and found out that my gallbladder . I had gallstones all in it and the surgeon said it had turned to sludge. But after I had that surgery I slowly started to gain weight back. This day I weigh 192. So humiliated because I failed. i have duodenogastric reflux that doesn't improve with medication and i found that this is the surgery doctors do with this disease i had no idea it was gastric bypass surgery, is there anyone with bile/duodenogastric reflux out there?

I had this procedure in 2002. I lost a total of about 150 pounds and have gained back about 30 of that. My weight has been stable for the last three years. This surgery saved my life. It is dangerous and it is major surgery. The place I had it done through has a 6 to 8 month period of meetings with sociologists, nutririonists, exercise therapists and the doctors. They actually reject a good number of patients because they have other issues with food. It is a huge step but it was worth it.
