[Part 3 of 8] Missa Cantata, or sung Low Mass, offered on the Last Sunday after Pentecost at the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Nicholas of Chardonnet in Paris, France.

This is the Eucharistic liturgy of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church celebrated according to the 1962 Roman Missal (Missale Romanum), also commonly referred to as the Tridentine Rite, or Tridentine Mass, or Tridentine Latin Mass, or Old Latin Mass, or classical Latin Mass, or Traditional Latin Mass (TLM).

This same Mass may be viewed or downloaded on Google as one full-length video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1872714663680800365

A "missa cantata" is an approved form of celebration of the Traditional Roman Rite of Mass which serves as a compromise between a Low Mass (which involves no music or incense, by definition) and a Solemn High Mass (which has strict instructions and requirements for celebration that cannot be met in many parishes). For more information, please read this fine article in the 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09790b.htm

The texts of the Latin prayers, and English translations of the same, which are common to every Traditional Latin Mass can be found here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/lmass/ord.htm

  • @idle44 He is doing it the traditional style. Old Mass has the priest going up to that place in order to preach the homily.

  • I don't understand why the priest sings the Gospel eastward (ie to God) rather than in the midst, or in front of, the people. Christ spoke to us! There are things which belong to God and things he has given to us.

  • @mleonetti1991 I think you are right. The Venacular is much longer than the Latin.

  • I was following along in Latin the Gospel, and apparently the priest either didn't finish it or skipped a big part of it. Is he allowed to do that?

  • Beautiful Mass, I Love Latin Mass Too, I Learned Our Father In Latin, Beautiful Mass, I almost cried! :-)

  • I love Latin mass [singing hymns] Same with Gregorian chants. Shabads of Sikhs, Nasheeds of Islam.

    God is one!

  • Go on the sspx website and it will tell you where the holy mass centres are.

    in Jesus, Mary and Joseph

  • This is all so wonderful! I wish there were more!
