Chicago Bike Ride Humboldt Park June 15 2008

OK, more messing around with my Flip. This was recorded literally by holding the cam in my hand while bike riding down Fullerton Avenue, eastbound. I am about five miles from home in Forest Park. Native Chicagoans will recognize this as the Humboldt Park community, the Puerto Rican area of the city. I don't have any Puerto Rican ancestry myself, but I can testify that this is one of the most exciting and lively areas of Chicago. They have an anuual Music Festival sometime every summer that is one of the best in the city. Every day seems to be Puerto Rican Pride day and vendors sell Flag themed shirts, shorts, halter tops, and even shoes. This area is one part of Chicago's distinctive ethnic mix.

The video really captures the feel of riding a bike down a busy city artery. Keep in mind I usually do this late at night!

Great Vid, I usually do this while driving and have wanted to while riding my bike but found it to be a bit difficult. I dont think I can do the one handed film way as you.lol. I Do critical mass and definitely want to record at the first warmer one of this year.

FLIP just came out with a bike mount for their cameras. I saw one at Target. It's kind of like a flexible tripod that mounts on the handlebars. Yep, Critical Mass is awesome; I saw one of the rides a few years ago and followed along for a few miles...

The music at the Puerto RIcan Festival is some of the BEST in the city. I try to go there every year to see the bands. I'll try to make a video next summer!
