Dozens of volunteers pulled out invasive algae and picked up trash at Maunalua Bay in East Honolulu on Jan. 12. Non-native limu (seaweed) has proliferated in the bay for decades, hurting the reef and fish populations. The clean-up event was organized by Malama Maunalua. (By Catherine E. Toth, 2008) (less)
