I dont think i ever knew about it...
Unless it was that one with the really old train, coz i went on that one with my parents. Was it a really old steam train?? Or was it just a normal one...

You should have joined us! Heapsa Stratford people jumped on the train for a days shopping in New Plymouth City. More went from New Plymouth to Inglewood and back too (actually surprised them all, went beyond Inglewood!).

Hope you enjoyed it - we all put heaps of work into that one!
We took people from Hawera / Stratford to Whangamomona for republic day in January and keeping our fingers crossed for that route to be open again one day for our trains!
In the meantime, we're bringing a coach down from Auckland to visit Stratford Pioneer and Waitara Rail Preservation at the end of July.

They are British Rail MkII's. Infact to date the Capital Connection are the most unaltered of the ex British stock imported. I think I've got a shot of the Auckland cars (with doors halfway down the body, rather than the end) and I know there are videos of the heavily modified MKII's known as 'SW' cars for the "Wairarapa Connection" on youtube as well. Maybe if I am lucky might see sum authentic 4ft 8.5in cars running in the uk in 6 weeks!!!
