  • Nice Video.

I was on the trip from NP to Inglewod and return.

  • Hope you enjoyed it - we all put heaps of work into that one!

We took people from Hawera / Stratford to Whangamomona for republic day in January and keeping our fingers crossed for that route to be open again one day for our trains!

In the meantime, we're bringing a coach down from Auckland to visit Stratford Pioneer and Waitara Rail Preservation at the end of July.

  • Those coaches look like the ones that where shipped out to NZ from the United Kingdom. They look like MK2d's I think.Nice video 5 *

    cheers

  • They are British Rail MkII's. Infact to date the Capital Connection are the most unaltered of the ex British stock imported. I think I've got a shot of the Auckland cars (with doors halfway down the body, rather than the end) and I know there are videos of the heavily modified MKII's known as 'SW' cars for the "Wairarapa Connection" on youtube as well. Maybe if I am lucky might see sum authentic 4ft 8.5in cars running in the uk in 6 weeks!!!

  • I used t live in Stratford and then moved to Wellington to work on those yellow trains.....

  • Well in that case i didn't know anything about it...

I must not get out much :)

  • Whats you see in the video is what it was :o)

Diesel hauled express train - took people from Palmerston North to Stratford / New Plymouth and home again in the one day. Left Palmerston Nth at 7am and returned at 10pm

  • I dont think i ever knew about it...

Unless it was that one with the really old train, coz i went on that one with my parents. Was it a really old steam train?? Or was it just a normal one...

  • You should have joined us! Heapsa Stratford people jumped on the train for a days shopping in New Plymouth City. More went from New Plymouth to Inglewood and back too (actually surprised them all, went beyond Inglewood!).

  • YAY!! I live in stratford :)

    We rock!! lol :)
