My rat, Lizzy, grew this huge tumor overnight on her left hind leg. I found it the next afternoon on October 16. We took her to the vet Oct 17 to make sure it was a tumor and not an abscess. I brought her back the morning of Oct 19. She ended up staying there until Oct 21 because she had pulled out a few of her stitches. The vet had to replace them with metal sutures. I kept her separated from her two sisters for a few days to make sure they wouldn't mess with her sutures either. She was on antibiotics for about a week. She got her sutures taken out Nov 2. Now her incision is all healed, and she just needs a little bit more fur to grow back.

  • @cutestuff2k i can't do anything about it cause my dad doesn't want to pay for surgery because it cost more then how much she cost

  • @SuperKer17 Yeah the surgeries are pretty expensive. I've had 3 removed from two of my rats so far at around $130 each, and they already have more again. I only paid $15 for all three rats together when I first got them. I'm at the point where I have to decide whether it's best to keep getting surgeries or just have them put to sleep. Where is the tumor and how big is it?

  • that's what my rat has and i can't live with it...she's gonna die :'(

  • @SuperKer17 You could ask your vet about surgery options. They're not going to die right away if they have a tumor, but you might want to check with the vet about it anyway.

  • normally im not a fan of rats but yours is just so cute im glad shes better =)

  • They're very sweet little animals =)

  • I've had two white rats and both of them developed huge tumors. The vet said it is very common in rats. There is really no way to prevent it from happening. We became very attached to the rats. It is amazing how one can find rats such great pets. I would never have thought I'd be a rat person but I loved those rats. RIP Kimber and Tabby.

  • How much did it cost you? My rat has developed a small tumor under her left arm and, for obvious reasons, I'm worried.

  • @Tusedaychan

Surprised he's your fiance and you didn't know about something he owned.

  • Your rat looks just like mine! And hers grew basically over-night in that same spot. The problem is if you get it removed, it will probably grow back. I've done a lot of reading on it. And they are very expensive to remove.

  • @cutestuff2k it's in the same spot as your rats in this vid but bigger

  • She looks like she's a real sweetie!

  • my finace apparently has a rat O.o wasnt aware of it till he told me but they look like they can be great little pets
