Car Alarms on Islay Ferry

"Concert for 17 Car Alarms (and a dog) in D-Minor":

During a ferry crossing from Kennacraig to Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay on the Calmac ferry Hebridean Isles I noticed a lot of car alarms going off on the car deck. A dog also joined in briefly, probably excited by the noise the cars were making.

The motion sensors in the cars react to the movement and vibrations of the ship, sending them into overdrive.

I decided to record some of the action to create this video, allowing you to join in on the fun...

For not reading the terms of carriage, telling them to disable motion sensors, It is not funny returning to your car to find your dog quivering after 2 hours of alarms going off, so yes they are idiots.

Having just checked the "conditions of carriage" on the Calmac website I can't find any requirement, let alone any mention, to disable motion sensors or alarms in them. To my knowledge it's a recommendation, mainly because of flat batteries.

On the other hand, if you know it upsets your dog, why don't you take your dog up with you? While the "Accompanied Dogs Policy" recommends to leave dogs in the car, it also offers several other options which you can take up, but apparently didn't.

God that's so annoying. Alarms should be illegal. It's noise pollution!

The whole point of the matter is cars are insured! If a car is stolen, the victims don't loose a fucking dime!

So why are cars still equipped with them?!

Pretty simple reason that I can tell why these cars are making the alarm sounds is that because the boats were meant to be keep shaking while moving to their destination.

car alarms are being equipped with more senors that sense anything including the rocking of the vehicle. that could possibly the reason the car alarms were going off as the ferry was rocking.
