ATHERTON PEOPLE SAY NO TO SCHOOL'S CLOSURE
Over 400 Atherton residents attended last night's public meeting called by the Schools Adjudicator at Hesketh Fletcher High School.
The meeting saw Atherton's townsfolk unite as community as they have never done so before, and almost as a single voice.
Speaker after speaker, parent, pupil, teacher, school Governor, local primary school head, member of the support staff or of the general public, put in succession, our town's case in favour of retaining its own properly funded and professionally well led High School to the Schools Adjudicator.
This clip is of comments made by parents, pupils and members of the public in the latter part of Schools Adjudicator called public meeting.
COMMENT: I think anyone living in our town cannot fail to be moved by each of them, and to be justifiably proud to live amongst such magnificent people. If the School's Adjudicator does anything other than rule in our favour at the end of his deliberations, then there is surely no thing as either justice or democracy in this country today!
