The Challenge
As a part of our ideology, we always look for the next new thing. The next new thing in: ideas, media, technologies and just plain new thinking. When Facebook launched "The Timeline" we decided to leverage it and do something unique that will make our own brand shine.
The Solution
We invented VCL (Visual Check-In Logo). By using the "check-in" feature on "Facebook Places" we created our own Visual Logo on the Check-In Map in the new 'Timeline". We started with our own logo to set an example so our clients can see and believe what we are trying to explain them.
After a thorough research on Google Maps and a lot of coordinates and street calculations on the map of Israel, we were ready to go. We gave 18 of our staff members a kit that included: GPS, Satellite coordinates for Check-ins and a Smartphone. Our team went out to the streets with their mobile phones and during the next 4 days opened new Check-In locations on specified addresses. During those days we Visited many cities, such as Hulon, Bat-Yam, Ramat-Gan, Rishon Le-Zion, Bnei Barak, Ben Gurion Airport, Lod, Yahud, Peteh Tikva and of course Tel-Aviv. As time went by and check ins were added our logo was revealed on the "Timeline" map, and became the first logo ever created by Check-ins.
The Result
Our project went viral! Thousands were exposed to our idea of a check-in-created visual that turns Facebook's map to a digital advertising platform. But the most important outcome was the fact that our clients "saw the light" and started talking with us about executing such projects for their own logos...
There's no doubt... in today's digital world, if you want to lead, you must place yourself on the map.
