  • I wish she was but no. I am planning to have most finished by the end of this summer and move from this location to where I will place the second deck on and an extintion to the bow. My hope is that she be in the water by next mid-summer. If I don't make that schedule I will wait to float her the next spring. I will make a short video in a day or so so everyone can see the progress. Thanks.

  • HOW cool is that!!! I grew up with the highlight of the summer being a ride on a sternwheeler on a big lake!! I will search your vids for more of this project. I bet at idle you can cruise 5 knots... Is that a regular automatic tranny on the end?

  • @BlakeMason2 it's a 400 Turbo Hydromatic, a standard with this motor on many cars and trucks. I just installed the driveshaft and she turns at 8 RPM's in low and 18 RPM's at Low 3.

  • Post more videos of this in action when its all hooked up.. looks like a sweet install. What powered this before?

  • @car2069 This is the first moter on the boat. I am building the boat fron scratch.

  • @AbrahamCavesss1990 yes!! look it up on here.. alot of folks have put the 4BT in their jeeps, dakota trucks.. broncos.. burbs.. alot really

  • Is she in the water yet?Must be something to see wandering around the harbor.

  • Any update videos on the sternwheeler project? Curious minds are anxious to see it.

  • V-belt will allow for slippage when things get tangled up in the wheel. There's lots of money tied up in the 30 to 1 gear reduction box and the belts should keep that safe. At least that's what the experts have told me.

  • What an interesting project. Any reason for a V-belt? Chain is usually more durable and cheap. Sheaves are about the same price as sprockets, in fact, I think multi-v sheaves are quite pricey. Well, cant wait to see a video of it under way.

  • Don't know for sure but I've been told that this engine is what guys are looking for when they make those rock climbers with the big tires.

    Thanks, Earl

  • Yes it's a 400 turbo. I've been told it's exactly what's needed for the low torque that's needed for a paddlewheeler. It will take off on a 6 part V belt to a 30 to 1 gear reduction.

    Thanks, Earl
