Original Dixieland One Step- Dutch Swing College 1988

The best of the best!
Yes folks, I had not seen this clip for a few years and a friend from the Netherlands just send me this film in a much better picture quality then the one I had before.
This is the Dutch Swing College Band at the top of their glorious career in 1988. Peter Schilperoort started this band in 1945 and today in 2007 they are stilll going strong.
But to me this was the ultimate band in 1988. Peter's health would deteriorate and after his death in 1990 most of the members quit and new personnel had to be found.
At a TV broadcast for the Sud Deutsche Rundfunk they played a fabulous concert and here we see and hear a tune which was also the very first recording by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1917.
Now some 71 years later this Original Dixieland One Step is played with great sophistication by this fabulous band from Holland.

  • Who is Justin Bieber??

  • Excellent, if slick, stuff... But it's not true that this 'O.D.One-step' was the 'very first' recording by the ODJB. They had already cut 'Livery Stable Blues' on this day (26.2.17)for Victor, and a whole month before this, on 30.1.17 for Columbia, waxed 'Darktown Strutters Ball' and 'Indiana'. But that doesn't detract from the importance of this excellent video which is good revivalist Jazz. Pity we can't recapture the 1917 recordings in the same way!

  • CarlaUY: You are quite fortunate that here in You Tube even irreverent, uneducated morons like you can post an opinion. Yeah, girl, sure. For brain dead, ignorant drunkards like yourself ANY kind of music is always "so funny"...
