Marie sings for the soldiers in an adorable, cute, FIERCE way. Because it is Diana Damrau singing, after all. "Attacke!", you know. She high fives all her "fathers" and then tries to get a bit too close to Tonio (Juan Diego Flórez), so Sulpice (Maurizio Muraro) gets in her way. This whole aria is just amazing.

  • Love her! Her larger voice (than Ms.Desssay-nothing against Natalie, I love her work also-and she admits to having a "small voice") gives Marie another dimension. Wish I could have seen this;maybe the Met will realize that playing to half empty houses means that, in this economy, $325 tickets are ridiculous. No wonder only the Balcony and Family Circle are sold out...

    Thanks for posting these, Lilith!

  • You are welcome :)

  • Thanks for uploading all the Fille videos! I'm going to see this next week - I can't wait!!

  • You are welcome :D *jealous*

  • I was just about to ask you to upload this.

  • I'm so much faster xD I'm making more videos. In about half an hour the piano scene (after the singing lesson) should be up too. I'll get onto the 'Il faut partir' afterwards and so on ^^

  • Diana is the BEST Marie ever!!! She has the high notes, the charm and the sensitivity to make this role her own. She transmited every emotion and all the funny parts through her singing. If I got excited about her performance listening to it htrough the radio, I can imagine how fabulous she was seeing it live! Brava, Diana! Another role that you make your own thanks to your always wonderful artistry!

  • i love her so much.) tnx

  • Amazing! Just amazing!!!

  • @Lilith89ibz I was in the house for this performance. Not the first time I've seen Damrau, and she NEVER disappoints. What a challenging role this is, with the dialogue, the physicality/acting, and not to mention singing all these major high notes while being carried horizontally on stage. Bravissima Damrau!
