I am a student of Krav Maga as well. I was wondering if you should strike the face after grabbing the barrel. If he were to fall back might the forward pressure that you were applying be negated by him falling back. If you were falling back and still maintained control of the gun the gun would be pointed back at you. Of course, either way, this is still better than doing nothing and he probably wouldn't be expecting any sort of disarm. Better to do something.

Recently watched the dvd, which doesn't only show techniques. Next to a part of techniques the dvd also makes quite clear that knowing techniques is only a small part of Krav Maga. In a real situation, if avoidence, de-escalation and 'giving your wallet' failed (thumbs up for mentioning that in the dvd), your mindset is key to executing a fitting defense. These techniques are perfect for making your own "blueprint" of handling these unfortunate situations. Definately worth its money! Gr. Golovko

I believe in the way Mr. Tudjan is trying to teach us (on the dvd but alos in de doko) how to act in a situation like this (or any other situation facing violence). Not beiing paralized by fear but to run away if you can or (when the attacker is too close) come by and try to disarm and neutralize your attacker. Since a month I m learing this kind of Krav Maga and I believe in the phylosophy behind it.Not the perfect technique is the answer but the decision to survive combined with the drills!

Okay, but lets say the attacker has a sling on the weapon... How is this countered?

Stopping bullets safely and at distance is for Magneto from the X-men - everthing else requires luck, lots of training, taking risk and guessing than doing something is the only way to save your life.
The technique displayed is in a particular context.

This is obviously against an inexperienced person wielding an assault rifle. Ofcourse, you need a certain technique against this specific type of threat too, but ofcourse the trained soldier will take you out long before you can get in range to touch the weapon.

Hello,
I am a student of many arts and do respect Krav Maga for the most part. However, I'm not quite understanding this move.
It appears to depend too much on trigger discipline, and in fact, the "attacker" loses said discipline at 2:47 as his parasympathetic reactions kick in and he curls his finger around the trigger. Had the weapon been hot, the Krav Maga student would have been shot in the foot. Had it been on full auto, the spray would have caught both attacker and student.
