This set belongs to collector/friend "etech". The chassis has been fully restored and the Cathedral cabinet is close to being finished. This is the second version of the 90 chassis. The first version used two 45 output tubes in P/P arrangement with no AVC (automatic volume control). The second version went to a single 47 output tube and added AVC operation. The third version added another 47 output tube for P/P audio output. The Philco 90 is surprisingly very selective and sensitive. The audio sounds "masked", as the speaker was facing away from the camera. Audio quality is actually very nice from this set.

  • Hi Dad! This is your daughter! :D

  • That four gang tuning section must mean business. That also looks like a decent audio section as well. QUESTION : Is that station in the 1100's WCXI Fenton?

  • Really not sure which station. May be?

  • John, this one isn't mine. It belongs to "etech" from ARF. He restored it. But thanks for the thought anyhow :-)

  • Brian,

Looks and sounds great. Is there any Philco you haven't repaired?:)

    Regards,

    John

  • Hi John. Actually I'm not the restorer on this set. That would be a gent by the name of Ed (etech) in most radio forums. He's quite the restorer himself. Skills far beyond my own.
