Hey everybody! Do you have any juggling tricks that you work on for AGES but never quite master? Ok, I know you don't, Mr. Dietz, Mr. Peden and Mr. Gatto..but the rest of you..? how 'bout it? These are my two pet projects, and have been since the Dead Sea first got sick.

I want to master these juggles to the point of performability!

I WILL SUCCEED! I'll get them both perfect! And I'll fly to Paris on a magic carpet with Scarlett Johansson.

Kidding. I'll never master the freakin' backcrosses.

Comments and heckles welcome!

  • Thomas doesn't do 9

  • Did you say Thomas Dietz doesn't do 9? as in balls?

I have a video of him running my gBallz, nine of them, for like 50 catches. at BJC.

  • brilliant video! great editing, and I enjoyed the commentary. I can barely do 3club backcrosses, and I can't juggle 5clubs or 7balls, so i'm totally jealous.

  • Thanks! well, the numbers of objects aren't the only thing..it's the consistency of any new trick. If you learned 3 club backcrosses you know the process can be longer than we all want it to be. I watch Vova and go "wow, could he EVER have had trouble learning anything?" Thanks for looking at my vids.

  • Awesome editing, I love how you use the rings on the floor for the videos. And it's really interesting to hear about how you struggle with the tricks.

  • Thanks! well , hehe.. i knew i didn't have enough stuff for a new video without some creative editing/production ideas. Thanks for watching/commenting!

  • I know how you feel John. Well, not exactly since I don't do your tricks (yet, ;D), but I struggled with 5 balls for what seemed like a reeeaaalllly long time. Now, I feel my pattern is good enough to be considered solid, and with practice I believe just about anything can be achieved. Good luck with your juggling John!

  • aaw, søte pusen :)

  • HHAHAHA... Nice Miata! You should see mine :P Awesome cat btw

  • Excellent video, I'll agree with that philosophy. In my experience, being able to keep a pattern going for a reasonable amount of time is only about a third of the fight.

That being said, the real reason for this comment was simply to thank you for proving to me that I'm not the only one who sees backcrosses as kryptonite.

  • I so feel that nmessage.

I like the way you edited this video John

  • You should count your blessings and be proud to even call yourself a 7 ball juggler and that you are able to do tricks with five. Those tricks to me were always considered what the pros do, but now after WJF started it seems to make tricks like 7 balls and 5 club backcross's seem so basic. I thought my four club kick up was bad ass when I got it for the first time, but after watching 9-12 year olds on you tube able able to pull it off it made me feel like I am a beginner.

  • You get good enough to do new tricks without practicing them. You'd be better at the new tricks if you åracticed them, but you would also have more drops.

  • That seems like a paradox. If learning something new means you drop every once in a while (read: constantly), but you only practice patterns in which you don't drop, how do you learn anything new?

  • He CAN DO nine, that doesn't mean he DOES nine. He practices only things he has solid because drops don't make for very economical use of the practice time.
