@kel30j I was the Airman who made that comment lol. When I say "Work" with guns...I meant flipping them around and performing facing movements with them. I was not used to doing that and holding the rifle in those different ways. However, I have used M-16's, M-4's and 9mm for duty before which is completely different.

Aviano is a great place to live. The weather is is pretty random but it isn't terrible. Its hot in the summers but not dreadfully hot, and its cold in the winters but not painfully cold and there is a lot of rain.
Also as a fun fact, Aviano AB currently is the base with the most fans on face book

Its not a stereotype. FEW Airmen handle weapons very often. The "Chair force" thing is wrong, but the weapons thing is not

The quote from the Airman at the begining probably should have been left out...."I've never really worked with guns before"...LOL, not something you want to here from a member of the military and definitely doesn't help the Air Force rid itself of the stereotypical "chair force" Airman...

I am an Air Force veteran (94-98). I went TDY to Aviano, Italy for 3 months every summer I was in. It was great duty. I think it would be better to be stationed there because you could own a car and take leave to see Europe. I want to encourage you to join the Air Force and see as much of the world as you can on Uncle Sams money. In the service, some duty stations ARE better than others but it's the people you're with that make it great. Good luck.
