Masomo For Children (2008)

Starehe Children's Home is the largest orphanage in Mwanza, Tanzania. It is currently home to 113 children between the ages of infancy and 18 years who have been orphaned, abandoned and/or are HIV positive.

"Masomo For Children" is a charitable program initiated by the Live To Give Relief Organization (a Toronto-based charity). The mission of "Masomo For Children" is to advance the education of children living at Starehe Children's Home by promoting global citizenship, fundraising and volunteerism in Canada.

The program will support the funding of The Starehe Nursery School, which opened in January 2008. This school will be open to up to 120 pre-school students, both from the orphanage and in the surrounding area, as well as to older Starehe children who have special learning needs. The school was founded by Masomo, http://www.masomo.org a German-based charity that built and operates the school.

'Masomo For Children' will also raise money to sponsor scholarships for Starehe children who would most benefit from attending a local private school.

There are absolutely NO ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS associated with this program; therefore, 100% of all donations will directly benefit this cause.

(3) Enter Donation Amount and select Donation Frequency
(4) **IMPORTANT** Select "Masomo For Children" on the Fund/Designation drop-down menu
(5) If you wish, you can send specific instructions to designate your donation toward the Starehe Nursery School or the education fund.

@Nxele1985 That's very nice of you. I am Tanzanian (From Dar Es Salaam) and I know Bethsaida. It had lovely girls..It is nice to see that people care. I hope there are/will be more gov. sponsored orphanages.

I spent the summer in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at the only government-sponsored orphanage for girls over 12 years old in the country. The school is called Bethsaida Secondary School. This video touches me right to the quick and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish I were still there with my friends.
