@macspud28 Jesus never said he did not want a church or organisation. He did not predict the growth in number of his followers. Without a church you end up with what you have in the US - false prophets - which is what he, and later Paul did warn against. Namely these so called evangelists who con the poor into giving them money and living lavish lifestyles rather than them helping the poor and disadvantaged. - like the pharisees they are proud while exploiting the poor.

@macspud28 I would ask you to provide some support for you claim, but you will find none in scripture. The Bible tells us that the apostles received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and that he would be with them until the end of time. they went out preaching and baptizing others in to the church, celebrated eucharist, and heard confessions. that is a physical church, we are the body of christ. he himself is a physical church, and it is alive and well. What don't you get?

@Baptistlove Yes, interesting. There was no papacy before Constantine. Also Peter was apostle to the Jews, not Gentiles. And Paul, a pharisee no less, rebuked Peter for his Jewish chavinism (Galatians 2:14)! Peter was also married (Luke 4:38) a fine example of a pope! At the time of Leo I (440-461), Bishop of Rome, he sill had equals. Gregory I (590-604) was the first to be above other Bishops. HIstory tells us what the papacy now denies.
