Our government has betrayed everyone, in the past they took the Natives history, language, land, and lives, shoved the Bible down their throughts and now threw the "No child Left behind act" our kids are enlisted to go kill these people in the middle east, can America make up their minds about who to kill, cuz we are all confused here! So the Native American Indians slain people it's no different then any other people from other countries protecting their land from intruders . Saddam did it to Kuwait , Hitler  to the Jews. America did it to Vietnam and so on . wars between tribes happened but what the white man did to the Native Americans that felt threatened was Wrong on so many levels. There were tribes that were treated well at first here in the East when the white man showed up but where are they now from Pa

I remember anting to read this book but found it too heartbreaking and couldn't bring myself to read it. I love the spirit of the native Americans and wish them all the best in the future.

@2709aaron Ummm... The Sioux were pretty much defeated long before Sitting Bull died, but that has nothing to do with anything that I said. I suppose you want to change the subject to how mean the US was to the Sioux. Sure, the US was mean to them. :: Shrug:: The Sioux were also mean sometimes. Its just how it is. Sitting Bull was no tree hugging grandfatherly hippie. He also slew innocent women and children indiscriminately. Do you cry for them?

@DURound - The American army knew that as long as the Sitting Bull was alive they couldnt defeat the Sioux.

What was the American Army doing at the time of the war?

DICTATING were his people should live by either moving them onto central reservations & if they didnt comply they were killed.

@2709aaron Custer was an arrogant ass and his arrogance got him and all of his men killed. There is a reason he never was actually promoted above Colonel.

Despite this, though, his men absolutely loved him. 

The Officer in this film is not Custer but Col. Nelson Miles, and as portrayed in this film, what he said was right.
