It´s NOT illyrian sheep dog. Sarplaninac/Sharpllaninac is a dog race which is told to be taken to the region by Alexander when he was in Asia. The race is also similar to Kaukasian ovcharka (sheep dog). So the race doesn´t have anything with serbs or albanians. Sorry guys.

Today the race is called Sarplaninac because the dogs are usually grown up in Sar/Sharr mountain. It got that name sometimes in 50´s or 60´s by the former Yugoslavian goverment or some likely organisation.
